When we started Oakley Coaching 5 years ago, I (Rhiannon) remember saying that I wanted to change the face of healthcare, by teaching communication skills to clinicians and helping them better support their patients in turn. We knew that whilst Philippa Oakley DC and I could make a small impact on patient care by working directly with patients ourselves, we could have a much bigger impact on patient care and the wider healthcare landscape if we taught the teachers instead, equipping you all with the skills to in turn support the people you work with. We knew that something had to be done to combat the challenge of disempowered patients, and overwhelmed practitioners, and we have always felt that effective communication is the hallmark of expert person-centred care and all that encompasses. With the support and enthusiasm of our family, friends, colleagues, institutions and professional organisations from around the world, we’re well on our way to achieving our goal, but there’s still so much to do.
From pivoting our multi-disciplinary chiropractic clinic in 2020 to creating a unique and inspiring online international education-focused Academy which is giving us a work-life balance we could previously only dream of- Philippa and I are living proof of how coaching can change your life.
We have spoken at the COPA Conference, the British Chiropractic Association autumn conference, and have have delivered lectures through the Royal College of Chiropractors, and the global Evidence-Based Chiropractic Network. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were delighted to support the CPD requirements of UK Chiropractors, Osteopaths and other manual therapists by delivering accredited CPD webinars and sending out over 200 hours of CPD certificates for free.
Since then we have launched our Confident Clinicians Academy and our flagship online communications skills training course, spoken at the WFC (Summer 2021 + Autumn 2021) and the BCA (September 2021), developed a series of undergraduate lectures for WIOC, are working on a project for the Isle of Wight NHS and spoken to the members of CASA: Chiropractic Association of South Africa.
We are proud to work with all practitioners and organisations that put their patients first, and are proud to be proactive, performance-driven coaches who can assist your team at all levels.
